Do you know how to bake cupcakes and muffins? If you do, that would be best. If you don’t, then I suggest that you just have to buy muffins.
Having fun with kids with this activity is not making muffins with your little ones, this is about designing those muffins you just baked or bought (make sure you buy plain muffins)
Here’s what you need:
Muffins (either you baked them or you buy plain muffins in a grocery store or a bread shop)
Egg whites – 3 eggs
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – ½ cup
Food colors (at least 3 different colors or more)
Now you have your muffins. The next thing you will do is to make a colorful icing.
Here’s the method:
Separate egg yolks and egg whites. Mix water and sugar in a boiling pan, stir and let it boil for 1 minute. Let the boiled sugar cool a bit. Using your electric mixer, mix egg whites then pour the boiled sugar one at a time. Mix them until it’s fluffy or until you reached your desired icing texture.
To make a colored icing, just take an amount of icing, put it in a bowl, mix one color and put it in a piping tool.
To get the fun started, give your child one piping tool with an icing and let him/her make his/her own design with the muffins. You can actually do this with your child’s favorite cookies or biscuits.
Have fun doing it with your kids or the rest of the family. This activity will not only give them joy but it will also practice their skills in making designs with different colors.
