Every kid loves going outside, right? They love to play and to explore, and luckily for parents that means learning as well. The best thing is when you can turn a fun experience into a learning experience, and a great way to do that is scavenger hunt! Scavenger hunts are fun and easy to do, all you need is a piece of paper and a good eye.
The best way to have a scavenger hunt is to make a goal, and then try to to reach it. You could do it as simply as a single list of things to find: a leaf, a stone, a feather, and so on. Or you could make it a bit more complex with a theme or categories that each kid needs to fill. You could try to find three different colored leaves. Stones of varying sizes. Even weeds that flower are good for this sort of game.
The best part of a scavenger hunt is at the end, showing off all the things the kids have found. If you have some play buckets this would be a great extra tool, the kids could fill them with all the pieces they find and have a show and tell at the end.
A scavenger hunt is a great outside activity to try the next time you are looking for something new to do. Having fun running around outside while learning is a great combination!
